Background:

Emily was born in Chicago, Illinois and grew up in the Windy City for most of her life. When she was 14 her father, a Chicago City Firefighter, perished while searching a burning home for the homeowner's daughter. The roof collapsed on top of him and he died from smoke inhalation. Emily's mother was heart broken and quickly fell into depression. Despite the small windfall they received from his insurance policy, the family struggled to get by. Emily's mother worked two jobs just to make ends meet, but also turned to alcohol to solve her problems. With life troubled and borderline abusive at home, Emily threw herself into her studies and athletics. She was an all-state gymnast and trained as a kick boxer on the side. The time she wasn't in the gym or dojo, Emily went to the library and buried herself in books. She loved machines and figuring out how things worked. She began drawing her own design schematics and experimenting with various machine parts she would find laying around. She graduated high school with top honors, but turned down a full ride to Northwestern University. Instead she decided to move her life further east and accepted a scholarship to Steel City University's Engineering program. Emily grew up watching cartoons and anime, some of her favorite shows being Transformers, Voltron, and Robotech. She always thought it would be amazing if humans could build their own life size robots so she focused on mechanical engineering and robotics. Emily's professors commended her on her enthusiasm, but thought her ideas of people having their own powered suits to assist them in daily life were a bit farfetched. Emily was undeterred, and entered her concept design for a personal robotic suit in a scholarship contest that was offered annually by Prometheus Industries. While her design was passed over initially by the board of directors, Tiffany Johnson, the company's founder and primary research scientist took note of Emily's design and potential and invited Emily to her office to have a chat. The normally shy and reserved Emily had no idea that this meeting would change her for the rest of her life.

Mannerisms:

Emily can seem a bit shy and reserved, and she is not quick to trust people. Behind her seemingly stand offish personality though is a brilliant mind and young woman who enjoys many pursuits in life. She has a high sense of honor and willingness to get the job done, no matter the sacrifice, a value that was instilled in her watching her father as she grew up. Emily loves movies, especially sci-fi films, and she is an avid watcher of anime and shows that feature robots.

Emily normally dresses in the attractive librarian style, though she will sometimes go a bit grunge with her style of dress. She dyes several strands of her brown hair a dark green color as a way of expressing herself. She has a tattoo on her left shoulder blade of her father's firefighter badge along with the words "Honor and Integrity Always." She lives by herself in a university apartment that is paid for by her scholarship. Her home is pretty Spartan, though her room is a mess of technical manuals and mecha models. In her spare time, Emily continues her gymnastics training at the university gymnasium and is also taking several self defense classes.

Relationships:

Tiffany Johnson/Crimson Valkyrie: Emily comes to think of Tiffany as a motherly figure in addition to her mentor. Tiffany is always very supportive of her without going overboard. She still makes Emily work to achieve her goals and dreams, but is always supportive. Emily later finds out that Tiffany is also the crime fighting super heroine known throughout Steel City as the Crimson Valkyrie. This only strengthens their bond, as Emily vows to protect Tiffany's secret with her life. Tiffany also offers her a lab space to maintain and repair her armor, along with the resources to do so.

Anna Waldorf/G-Raider: Emily meets Anna on a fateful night in which the two heroines in their armored suits are caught in a pitched battle against a group of Doctor Kotetsu's armored assassin cyborgs. Though the pair emerge victorious, Anna's armor is critically damaged and she is injured when she takes the brunt of an attack that would have severely damaged Emily's suit. Emily carries the unconscious G-Raider back to her home base at Tiffany's lab and gets her medical attention. When Anna awakens, Emily reveals herself as the Steel Angel and thanks her for saving her life. She also vows to help Anna rebuild her armor and Anna is also brought under Tiffany's wing. Though Anna is a bit wary of her new allies at first, and sometimes questions if Emily has had everything handed to her by Tiffany in terms of her suit and gear, she soon finds that Emily is a hard working and amazing young woman who has earned everything she has. The pair grow very close and eventually become romantically involved.

Steel Angel:

After her initial meeting with Tiffany Johnson, Emily was a bit skeptical of the research scientist's promise to help her with her project and dream. After thinking about it for a night, she decided to take Tiffany up on her offer and met the lovely red haired scientist at her country home on the outskirts of Steel City. Tiffany showed Emily around her in home lab and provided her with the resources and tech necessary to build her first powered suit of armor. Emily enjoyed the fact that Tiffany watched from a distance, only offering her assistance when Emily requested it. Tiffany was always supportive of her and in a way Emily came to look at her as a motherly figure. Eventually Emily completed her armored power suit, which she had planned on using as a prototype for the fire department to keep the fire fighters safe in the line of duty. Her motives changed slightly during her first test flight of the suit, when she wandered a bit further away from Tiffany's property than she had originally planned. She came across a helicopter that was air dropping in supplies for an oil drilling crew in the hilly area to the west of Steel City. The helicopter was struggling in the high winds and eventually suffered engine trouble. Using her amazing new armor, Emily was able assist the helicopter in landing safely, saving the lives of the three crew members on board. She flew off before they could thank her and arrived back at Tiffany's house, the power cells in her armor nearly depleted from her heroics. Excited by her actions, she dove into improving the armors design, her imagination running wild at the possibilities of what she could do with it. She had become a hero, just like her father. Tiffany returned home late that evening from picking up some groceries and invited Emily up from the lab for a nice warm dinner. While the two ate the local news ran a story, interviewing the helicopter pilot who referenced a "Steel Angel" emerging from the grey sky to save them before their helicopter went down. Emily quickly grew sheepish at the news, but Tiffany had already picked up on who the "Steel Angel" was. She and Emily had a long talk after dinner about how she wanted to go forward with things and Emily expressed great interest in using her new suit for the greater good, and becoming a heroine for the city under the name Steel Angel. Tiffany was a bit reluctant at first, but eventually agreed to help Emily improve the suit and give it more defensive capabilities, as well as enhancing the thrusters and power cells. Tiffany agreed to help Emily on one condition, that she would learn to fully use the suit's abilities and train her body to be able to fight well in it, mastering its movements before she would ever use it to help people. Emily agreed, and the Steel Angel was born. By the time Emily was done perfecting her prototype to it's final stage, she had gone through two previous versions. She dubbed the completed project Angel Mark III.

------------------------------------------

Suit Capabilities:

Emily's Steel Angel suit is made from an experimental self repairing nano-molecular alloy. The prototype alloy gives it amazing durability but also light weight. Emily built the suit to be more sleek and streamlined so she could move more easily in it. The suit features ion thrusters in the boots, as well as a set of flight thrusters that are swept back from her shoulders. For high speed flight, her armor can deploy ailerons from her gauntlets and boots to stabilize her flight path. Her suit has a more heavily armored helmet, made from a titanium alloy. It features an amber colored polychromatic visor that gives her perfect clarity in all lighting situations. The visor also has a three dimensional heads up display and can be switched to night and thermal vision modes. Emily can use the suit's onboard weapons to fight from a distance, or she can put the suit in "burst mode" which uses bursts of its ion thrusters coupled with her unique fighting style to inflict physical damage on her opponents.

Flight Speed - Cruising on normal thrust: 250-300 mph
Flight Speed - Maximum Thrust: Top speed of 632 mph (as tested)
Heads Up Display: Monitors flight speed, altitude, direction, suit power levels, weapon armaments and remaining count, defensive barrier thresholds, has onboard GPS and Radar
Communications: Telecom relays that can tap into cellular towers, satellites, and Tiffany's personal databases
Power Core: Ion Fusion based technology. Operational lifetime is unlimited as long as breaks are taken to recharge internal power cells from the main core. Combat Operational lifetime is limited to three to four hours at maximum power levels.
Armor: Self Repairing Nano-Molecular Alloy. Capable of sustaining hits from high caliber weaponry and lighter explosives with minimal to no damage to internal systems and wearer.
Armament: Under wrist mounted ion pulse cannons with variable power settings. Reinforced vibranium armored hand grips that serve as "brass knuckles." Ion superheated "stinger" blades that deploy from the armor's upper forearm section.
Defensive Systems: Suit has standard radar and ECM jamming devices available on most fighter jets in the military. Suit software is hardened to protect against hacks and remote access(AI added later to assist). Upper leg armor casing can deploy a limited number of flares or radar deceiving chaff tubes. Ion based kinetic barriers can be deployed from each palm. Note: when barriers are deployed, Stinger Blades and Ion Pulse cannons are inoperative. Suit has an onboard oxygen system that allows the wearer to survive under water for up to two hours. The suit is insulated and shielded against lower forms of electrical attacks and minor EMP bursts.

Weaknesses:

Despite the amazing technology Emily's armor is equipped with, it can still be damaged. Repeated heavy physical blows and explosions can slowly weaken the self repairing alloy. Her armor can also be damaged by intense electrical blasts and localized heavy EMP bursts. Emily also bears a little bit of the kinetic energy absorbed from impacts, and she can be rendered unconscious if hit hard enough. The internal systems and conduits in her suit can also be damaged after prolonged battle.

Random Facts:

Emily loves chili dogs, they are probably her favorite food in the entire world.

Emily's favorite hobby is model building, she has a rather extensive collection of robot and mecha models, as well as fighter jet models from most eras.

In addition to her tattoo, Anna wears her fathers firefighter badge on her nano-sleeve under-suit when she patrols as Steel Angel

Emily has a calico short haired tabby cat named Wheeljack, after her favorite Transformer.

A new OC I created for Steel City, probably after watching Iron Man and Bubblegum Crisis too much, and influence heavily by some late night brainstorming with :icongundam20012005:

Steel Angel is heavily influenced by Priss and Linna of Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, along with the Jaeger Striker Eureka from Pacific Rim.

Emily/Steel Angel is my OC and should only be used with permission.

The mentioned Tiffany Johnson/Crimson Valkyrie is also my OC.

The mentioned Anna Waldorf/G-Raider is the OC and property of :icongundam20012005: and should only be used with his permission.
